1. Scope and privacy choices
This policy applies to the RelaySkills website, account features, profile and portfolio surfaces, matching, messages, calendar, sessions, credits, learning records, support forms, and related pages. It does not control third-party sites linked from RelaySkills, including Google, calendar providers, browsers, or social platforms. Review those providers’ own privacy notices before using them.
RelaySkills is designed to collect only what is useful for the feature being used. Some fields are required for account security or matching; optional fields can be left blank. You can adjust available visibility, communication, analytics, retention, and account controls from your profile and settings. A setting may not undo information another person already copied or information that must be kept for security, disputes, or law.
2. Information we collect
Account and identity information
We may collect a display name, username, email address, phone number if supplied, password-derived authentication data, date of birth or age-related information, country, timezone, language, guardian details where applicable, avatar presentation settings, and account status. We do not need your password in readable form to operate the account.
Profile and community information
We collect skills you can teach, skills you want to learn, goals, experience, availability, session preferences, portfolio content, ideas, feedback, group activity, follows, reports, and visibility choices. What other members can see depends on the feature and your selected privacy settings.
Activity and transaction information
We record sign-ins, profile changes, matches, conversations, notifications, calendar events, workshop participation, calls’ room and attendance state, learning-journal entries, streak sessions and freezes, achievements, time-credit ledger entries, payments, disputes, refunds, gifts, and administrator actions. These records help us provide the feature, protect members, and keep an accountable history.
Device, log, and preference information
Requests may include IP address, approximate technical location, browser and device details, timestamps, referring page, error information, cookies, session identifiers, and security tokens. Your browser may also store preferences such as theme, navigation density, saved interface state, and locally cached account hints. Local storage belongs to that browser and device; it is not a substitute for the account record.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; authenticate sign-ins; link an optional Google account; display profiles and portfolios according to settings; calculate explainable matches; send messages, notifications, reminders, and support replies; create and update calendar records; operate workshops, calls, gifts, credits, achievements, and streaks; prevent abuse; investigate reports and disputes; troubleshoot failures; measure product usage; improve accessibility and reliability; comply with legal obligations; and enforce the Terms and Conditions.
We may use aggregated or de-identified information for planning and reporting when it cannot reasonably be used to identify a person. We do not use a match score, streak, badge, public count, or automated notice as a guarantee of identity, expertise, safety, educational outcome, or eligibility.
4. Visibility, sharing, and member control
Information you mark public may be visible to other members or visitors, including profile identity, selected skills, portfolio items, public projects, public feedback, or community contributions. Private profile fields, direct messages, account records, precise location, guardian information, and credit history are restricted to the people or administrators authorized for that feature.
We share information only when reasonably needed to provide a feature, protect people or the service, follow your instruction, or comply with law. Examples include sharing a calendar event with its participants, a message with conversation participants, a workshop registration with its host, a report with authorized reviewers, or a public profile with the audience you selected. We do not sell personal information or use private messages to build an advertising profile.
Members can copy or screenshot information they are permitted to view. RelaySkills cannot control a recipient’s later use of a lawful view, so share only what you are comfortable making available to that audience.
5. Service providers, Google, cookies, and analytics
RelaySkills uses hosting and infrastructure services to deliver pages, run the application, store structured records, and protect requests. The published site currently runs on Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare D1. The project includes a Cloudflare R2 storage configuration for future permitted uploads, but R2 is not enabled in the current deployment; new photo or community-media uploads remain unavailable until that binding is activated. Providers process information only as needed to provide their services, under their own terms and security practices.
If you link or use Google sign-in, Google provides basic account information needed for authentication, such as an email address and profile identity permitted by the OAuth consent. RelaySkills does not receive your Google password. Google’s processing is governed by Google’s policies, and you can manage connected applications from your Google Account.
RelaySkills uses Google Analytics measurement ID G-5BVDPY48YM on pages that load the shared site shell. Analytics may collect device, browser, page, approximate location, and interaction data through cookies or similar technologies. Use the site’s available analytics preference control or your browser controls where provided. Blocking analytics does not necessarily stop essential session, security, or feature cookies.
Cookies and local storage may remember a signed-in session, security state, theme, navigation preferences, and other functional choices. Clearing them can sign you out or reset preferences. Third-party content, fonts, icons, OAuth pages, and calendar links may set or read information under their own policies.
6. Messages, calls, uploads, and safety review
Direct messages and attachments are available to the participants authorized for that conversation, subject to moderation and security controls. A valid report, safeguarding concern, fraud investigation, or legal request may allow authorized administrators to review relevant content and account records. We may restrict delivery, remove material, preserve evidence, or disclose information where reasonably necessary to prevent harm or comply with law.
Video rooms use browser permissions and WebRTC. Camera, microphone, and screen media are exchanged by participating browsers and are not intentionally recorded by RelaySkills as a normal room feature. We do store room permissions, invitations, waiting-room status, connection-signaling data, and attendance or completion records needed to operate the room and resolve disputes. Do not record another participant without appropriate consent.
Uploads are subject to file-type, size, access, safety, and retention controls. No online service is completely secure. Protect your credentials, use a unique password, avoid uploading unnecessary sensitive information, and report suspected compromise promptly.
7. Young people and guardians
RelaySkills may use age or date-of-birth information to apply additional safeguards. Where required, a parent or guardian must provide consent or review account use. Student features may limit profile visibility, direct contact, calls, public submissions, or access to sensitive community features. Guardian details and review outcomes are restricted account records.
These controls reduce risk but do not prove identity or guarantee a safe interaction. Adults should supervise young people’s use where appropriate. If you believe a child’s information was submitted improperly or a child is at risk, contact RelaySkills through the Contact page and use local emergency services for immediate danger.
8. Retention, account export, and deletion
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, complete a transaction history, handle reports and disputes, comply with legal duties, or resolve conflicts. Retention varies by category and by your available settings. Backups, audit records, fraud signals, ledger entries, and safety records may persist for a limited additional period or be retained in restricted or de-identified form.
Available account controls may let you export account information, download session history, reduce retention, clear selected records, correct profile details, unlink Google, or delete your account. Deleting an account does not necessarily delete information that another member is entitled to retain in a conversation or shared event, or records needed for security, legal, credit, dispute, or audit purposes. We will not retain information longer than reasonably necessary for those purposes.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain processing, and to complain to a relevant data-protection authority. We may need to verify your request and may apply lawful exceptions for another person’s privacy, security, legal claims, fraud prevention, or record integrity. We do not discriminate against you for making a lawful privacy request.
To request access, correction, deletion, or clarification, use the Contact & support page and identify the account email or username. Never send a password, Google secret, administrator code, or full payment credentials in a contact request.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when features, providers, legal obligations, or privacy practices change. The new version will show a new “Last updated” date, and we will provide additional notice where required or reasonably practical. If you continue using RelaySkills after the effective date, the updated policy applies.
This policy is a plain-language product notice, not legal advice. If you need advice about rights, consent, international transfers, or a regulated activity, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. Privacy questions and complaints can be sent through Contact & support.
