Equal time
An hour of thoughtful teaching has equal value, regardless of subject, income, or professional status.
RelaySkills is a student-built learning network founded by a 13-year-old Indian high school student, where people teach what they know, learn what they need, and exchange time instead of money.
I’m a 13-year-old Indian high school student and the founder of relayskills. For a long time, I thought expensive education was simply how the world worked: you pay for school, coaching, courses, and tutors. If you cannot afford them, you are often left trying to figure things out alone.
In India, even genuinely good education can be out of reach for families who are not among the wealthiest. That led to a harder question: what happens when knowledge itself becomes a luxury?
RelaySkills began with late-night conversations among friends about where to find good study material, who could explain a difficult topic, and what we could teach one another. We realised that between us there was an incredible amount of knowledge. We simply were not sharing it.

You do not need to be a professor to teach. You might know how to build a website, explain a difficult idea, speak three languages, edit videos, play an instrument, prepare for an exam, or use a piece of software.
Teach someone for an hour and earn a time credit. Then use that credit to learn something from someone else.
There are already thousands of websites selling courses. RelaySkills is a different kind of place: practical, human, and open to people who may never have a certificate to prove what they know.
An hour of thoughtful teaching has equal value, regardless of subject, income, or professional status.
No expensive subscriptions, no turning every piece of knowledge into a product, and no gatekeeping.
Technology should help people meet, prepare, and follow through while the learning relationship stays human.
If communities stop sharing and knowledge keeps moving behind increasingly expensive paywalls, the ability to learn something new could depend more and more on how much money someone has. We do not want that future.
RelaySkills is still young. We are still learning, still building, and still figuring things out. But the idea behind it is simple: someone needs what you know, and somewhere else, you need what someone else knows.
Teach anything, Learn everything.
